Riverlea businesses

If you are a business or land owners in Riverlea Road, this page is for you.

We will be requesting, via our submission on the proposed district plan, that the zoning rules for Riverlea Road and Mexted Place are tightened so that only light and service industrial activities may easily become established on Riverlea Road. Any kind of heavy industry, we hope, will be coded as 'restricted discretionary' (RD) and therefore need resource consent.

However, this does NOT apply to businesses already operating in the area - existing use rights apply, so as long as you keep doing what you're already doing and don't substantially change it, our proposal would not change anything for you.

It would, however, mean that your future neighbours are less likely to be smelly, dirty or noisy.

The change our society is trying to activate will be greatly supported by businesses owners in the area making their own submissions along the same lines. Please go to the home page for more information on how to do that.

We know that many of you would welcome such a change. This became obvious during our 2004 experience when Blacktop Construction applied for resource consent to establish an asphalt plant on Mexted Place. However, we also know that not all of you will welcome it!

Please feel free to leave a comment below to air your opinion. Do please include your name and reason for affinity with the area - business name, landowner etc.
