The process from here

Here is a summary of how Hamilton City Council's adoption of the district plan is likely to proceed:

1. Submissions close on 29th March.
2. Council staff produce a summary of submissions, which is publicly available.
3. There is an opportunity for further submissions from parties who are affected by the first submissions. This includes cross-submissions.
4. Council staff produce a further summary of submissions.
5. Hamilton City Council makes a decision on the final state of the district plan.
6. Any appeals to the environment court are carried out.
7. The district plan is finalised.

This can be a long process, and sometimes takes years.
